Welcome to the atlbike.org webgeek weblog.
What is a weblog (commonly called a blog)?
According to Wikipedia, blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

The atlbike.org weblog uses Wordpress software. The addition of the blog software has allowed me to extend the types of content available on the site. This became more important with the formation of the Atlbike Trail Foundation in December of 2010. The weblog content is also very suitable for feeds into social media sites like facebook and twitter. The bulletin board software that was the glue of legacy websites, like atlbike.org, is now obsolete and cumbersome for users when compared to a resource like facebook. The weblog and social media links are just the first of many changes that will have to come to this site. Otherwise, it’s just another dinosaur that will perish.
